ABOUT PADMINI CHAKMA

Paddmini Chakma is a photographer and activist from Rangamati, Chittagong Hill Tracts, Bangladesh. Belonging to the Chakma Indigenous community, she uses visual storytelling to explore questions of representation, identity, and social justice. Her work critically engages with the lived realities of minoritized communities, deconstructing stereotypes and challenging dominant narratives within mainstream media.

Paddmini is the recipient of the Indigenous Community Grant at the Bangladesh Press Photo Award (2023). Her ongoing project Do You Really See Me was exhibited at the Bangladesh Press Photo Exhibition 2024 at Drik Picture Library, Dhaka.

She is also recognized as an Artist Changemaker (2025) by the Global Fund for Women for her contribution to social transformation and gender justice through her artistic practice.

Her work has further been exhibited at Khoj Studio, New Delhi (2025), for Mro Peoples Protest Against Eviction, and in Resist, Reclaim, Revolt (2025), a feminist art exhibition organized by Oroddho Foundation at Zia’s Art Gallery, Dhaka.

Through her practice, Paddmini Chakma continues to build a critical visual language that foregrounds resistance, memory, and Indigenous perspectives from the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
